The taste is creamy and refined, with rich umami depth, subtle vegetal notes (like seaweed and fresh peas), and a lingering, mellow sweetness. Minimal astringency ensures a silky drinking experience, whether whisked as koicha (thick tea) or prepared as a high-grade usucha (thin tea).

Todou no Mukashi is a koicha-grade (thick tea) ceremonial matcha produced by the historic Horii Shichimeien in Uji. Crafted primarily from the Samidori cultivar, it embodies the elegance and refinement of Uji terroir. This matcha is known for its smooth umami, gentle sweetness, and very low bitterness, making it ideal for both advanced tea drinkers and formal tea gatherings.
